Kareena fee touches Rs 7 crore

She is undoubtedly the reigning female star of the bollywood circuit presently. And being such a huge star is not without bagging some big moolah too. Buzz, is that Kareena Kapoor has updated her fee and presently she commands a market price of Rs 7 crore per film. This amount even surpasses the fee that is paid to some leading male actors.
Reports are that Kareena will be paid Rs 7 crore for her upcoming film GOLMAAL 3 which stars Ajay Devgan, Sharman Joshi, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor. Kareena would be the only female lead of the film as she does not want to work in multiple heroine projects.

With Kareena's fee going up when most of the actors are ready to take a cut on their remuneration, it only shows that Bebo's stature among the bollywood actresses is a mix of envy and pride.

Salman arranges a special chopper for Kareena

We all know how generous and helpful our actor Salman Khan is by nature. When it comes to helping friends he will never stay behind and can go to any extent to comfort them.
Something similar happened on the sets of upcoming film MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA, where Salman Khan made special arrangements for a chopper so that his leading lady, Kareena Kapoor, does not get delayed in reaching the location of her next shoot.

"When anybody is a part of Sohail Khan Productions, Salman Khan takes full care of the actor. The artiste is under his wings. Kareena had to reach for another important shoot that day. Time had already run out of hands and Kareena did not know what to do," said a source.

Salman instantly made arrangements for a chopper for her. "It was thanks to Salman's timely arrangement that Kareena could make it on time," said the source.

Saif & Kareena Wisen Up?

Actor Saif Ali Khan and actress Kareena Kapoor would love it if they could only work opposite each other. That way, they could end up spending maximum time with each other. The only thing that probably keeps them apart is their professional commitments.

Everybody knows how keen Kareena was to work with Imtiaz Ali again, and specially for Saif’’s home production. Despite being on the best of terms with the actress, Imtiaz stuck to his decision and opted for Deepika Padukone, a fact which did not go down too well with either Saif or Kareena.

But as the film’s shooting progressed, Saif probably realised how overboard he had gone. His subsequent statements when ’Love Aaj Kal’ was being promoted had a different tone altogether. And then, of course, the film went on to create a dhamaal at the box office. Well, the fact remains that Kareena will be a part of Saif’s second home production, ’Agent Vinod’. The couple will also be seen together in Rensil D’Silva’s ’Qurbaan’.

But they have realised that professionally, they cannot always be working with each other. Also, the fact remains, that their jodi has the danger of looking stale. Hence, both have realised that they need to work with other people professionally as well. So far, the duo has done one film together and also a couple of ads.

However, contrary to rumours, Kareena may not actually be a part of ’Race

2’. The script is yet to be completed and the cast yet to be finalised. The original ’Race’, starred Saif, Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif. The couple seems to have wisened up and realised that they need other partners in their professional life as well. But they also need to do that occasional film with each other.

Is Kareena All Set to Break Karisma's Record?

If rumors are to be believed Kareena Kapoor is all set to break elder sister Karisma's record. The record is for the longest kiss on screen, Karisma Kapoor holds the record for the longest on screen kiss with Aamir Khan for the movie 'Raja Hindustani'. Bebo, who is shooting a steamy sequence with beau Saif Ali Khan for Renzil D'Silva's 'Qurbaan' might just be able to topple elder sister for that record. The scene is steamy and Kareena was comfortable shooting it with real life boyfriend Saif, Renzil does not know the length of the kiss or the scene yet, so we would know only after the movie hits the theatres if Kareena has outdone Karisma at this one.

Kareena will be part of 'Race 2': Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan was so keen to revive the 'Race' magic with Abbas-Mustan that he has convinced the producers to rope them in as directors. He reveals that girlfriend Kareena Kapoor will also feature in the movie.

"They understand the pulse of the plot. 'Race' was a fast-paced action-adventure caper. Not too many filmmakers in Bollywood would've done such a wonderful job of it," Saif told us.

"Yes, Kareena will be part of 'Race 2'. We're yet to flesh out the details. But 'Race 2' has to be bigger and larger than 'Race'. Otherwise no point in making it," he added.

Bipasha Basu's character has been written out of the script to make way for Kareena.

Produced by Tips Industries Ltd, 'Race', which also had Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, turned out to be one of the big hits of 2008. But for the sequel, Ramesh and Kumar Taurani were not keen to have Abbas-Mustan on board as directors.

But Saif has convinced the producers to launch part two with the director duo.

Apparently "Race 2" will be more gadget and gizmo-friendly, as upwardly-scaled as 'Dhoom 2' was, compared to 'Dhoom'.

Akki-Bebo kissing "more funny than titillating": Saif

Saif has made a promise to Kareena. He'll have a double celebration for the success of Kareena's release 'Kambhakkht Ishq' and his own 'Love Aaj Kal'. But if, God forbid. Kareena's film doesn't do well, there will be no celebration for 'Love Aaj Kal'.

"That's true," admits Saif. "For me my film and Bebo's are equally important. In fact if there's a choice, I'd rather have her film work than mine. God willing, both films will be hits. And we'll have a double celebration."

Saif is openly appreciative of Kareena's on-screen bonding with Akshay. "Akshay is a great guy. I've had a great time working with him in so many films. In 'Tashan', all three of us, Bebo, Akshay and I had great fun. He's one co-star both Bebo and I like."

There was therefore no awkwardness at all regarding the kissing scenes between Akshay and Kareena. "They are more funny than titillating," grins Saif.

Says Saif, "I loved the film. Bebo and Akki look their career best. I think the film is great fun! I'd love to see it again. I think it is going to be a huge hit. And oh yes, my kids loved it too."

Saif and his two children Sarah and Ebrahim saw Kareena's 'Kambhakkht Ishq' on Tuesday night and they were bowled over.

Sarah and Ebrahim are hugely fond of Kareena, and fans of her films. The bonding between Kareena and the two children is very easy to see.

Says Kareena, "Oh Sarah and Ebrahim loved the film. Unfortunately, my sister and my father are out of country and couldn't attend screening. I can't wait for them to see KI."

Akshay upset at strategy to pull him down

Akshay Kumar is thrilled and upset at the same time. Thrilled, because his new movie, 'Kambakkht Ishq', has taken an incredible start from East to West and from North to South. Post 'Jumbo', 'Chandni Chowk to China' and '8 x 10 Tasveer', Akshay had become everyone's favourite punching bag. Once considered the blue-eyed boy of one and all, Akshay was dropped like a hot potato after a string of flops.

"I was disillusioned. I would be lying if I said that the flops didn't affect me. They did, especially the failure of 'Chandni Chowk to China'. I was heart-broken, crest-fallen," Akshay informs me. He's just back from a whirlwind tour [Puerto Rico, London, Delhi, now Mumbai] and has barely slept since the past few days.

"I was extremely nervous. I couldn't sleep. What if 'Kambakkht Ishq' doesn't open well? That thought kept bothering me," Akshay admits. But now that the film has fetched a superb start, the actor is feeling relieved. "Aaj raat achchi neend aayegi," he flashes his charismatic smile, when he's told that the film should have a record-breaking opening weekend.

But Akshay's upset too -- and it shows -- when he feels that there's a strategy to pull him down. The negative sms-es during the paid previews and the subsequent messages ridiculing his film have hurt him. "Why do we resort to such things? Aren't we happy that the audiences are back? 'New York' attracted crowds, now 'Kambakkht Ishq' has. 'Luck', 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Kaminey' would also bring crowds. The volume of business is only increasing. But by resorting to such things, we are only harming ourselves," Akshay says.

Q. 'Chandni Chowk To China' and '8X10 Tasveer' didn't work at the box office. How did you cope with such situation?

This kind of flip-flop does happen in the industry so it's ok; one can't take such things to heart. Some films work and some do not. It doesn't mean that you hold anything in particular against something or someone. You have to move on.

Q. But both 'Chandni Chowk To China' as well as '8X10 Tasveer', did get hammered quite strongly by most?

Haan, critics ne kaafi bura-bhala kaha tha in filmon ke liye (yes critics did come quite strongly on both the films). Still, I won't say that 'Chandni Chowk To China' was a bad film. Even in '8X10 Tasveer' I took a risk. But then you know how artistic films are treated in India, especially when they come out of Bollywood! Such films have small audience and one has to keep that in mind as well.

Q. Regarding 'Chandni Chowk To China', till the release of New 'York', it was the only film that took some reasonable opening at least.

I didn't intend to speak about it but since you have brought it out, let me state that box office has its own story to tell. It has seen highest collections so far and though it was certainly less than what all of us were expecting, it has still been far better than any of the other releases in the year. However, people did write so much negative about it that it couldn't go beyond a point at the box office.

Q. You must be quite positive about 'Kambakkht Ishq' though.

Well, yes indeed. I really-really hope that the film works. It has been such an extended period of draught over last six months. Entertainment has just come down and it's high time that people go back to theaters for their staple diet of movies. Over last so many months, there was so much recession, so many problems that a common man could not dream of going to theaters. People were not getting their salaries, they were loosing their jobs. In such a situation, things only turn worse for film business.

Q. You believe that situation has improved now?

Very much so because honestly I had thought that the bad run would continue for an even longer period. I am just not talking about movie business but economy in general. Of what I collect from the market scenario, the situation has improved tremendously over last couple of months or so. There is a certain stability that has come in. We have a stable government, the stock market has gone up again and I see similar positive trend for Bollywood as well. Things are much better now. Itne waqt andhere ke baad ab jaise waapas savera aa raha hai (after an extended period of darkness, there is finally some light)!

Q. Isn't it ironical that the media is now saying that you will get audiences back with 'Kambakkth Ishq'?

When they say like that then it only feels good. You want to be a part of something that works for the industry, works for the audience, works for the producer, and works for yourself. If my 'Kambakkht Ishq' can improve the industry situation then I can only be proud and happy about that. But honestly, I want all films releasing this season to work. There are these biggies like 'New York', 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Kaminey' coming one after another around my film and I want all of them to work.

Q. One doesn't find an actor saying this too often when so much is stake for his own film.

But then there is so much at stake for all of us out here, isn't it? I hear that during the strike, around Rs. 300 crores have been lost. We have to have something running to compensate for the losses. Aisa hoga tabhi mandi mein paisa wapas aayega (only if this happens would there be some money inflow into the industry); films would be made, people will get work. These are all important films and I want all of them to do extremely well!
