The actress looks sexy in a halter-neck, short and sexy dress, the girl makes a style statement apt for parties. Not only her pose, her make-up is also bold - it's shimmery.

We spotted Amrita Rao at the launch of the latest issue of The Man magazine in Mumbai on Monday.

Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao will go NAKED and NUDE for PETA

Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao will be seen together in a PETA advert and they’ll be wearing next to nothing to bring out the feel of vegetarianism!

They join the ranks of Pamela Anderson (who posed in a cabbage bikini), Aditi Gowitrikar (who was also covered in leaves) and Sherlyn Chopra (who posed in racy lingerie). Shahid has been a vegetarian since the age of 18 and Amrita Rao also converted to vegetarianism ten years ago.

The campaign will be shot next month and will re-unite the onscreen pair for the first time since Vivaah. They have also been romantically linked in the past but have dismissed the rumours, insisting they are just friends. Yet they are keen on working together as they are comfortable in each other’s company. The advert will feature them wrapped in tomato vines as the look is ‘tomato-and-pepper’. ‘Let Vegetarianism Grown on You’ is the theme of the campaign.

A source said that Shahid was chosen because he was voted the sexiest vegetarian and Amrita Rao is a sexy girl-next-door who promotes vegetarianism. What’s more is that they look good together. He adds that Amrita has already tried the sexy look in Shortkut but she failed. Amrita will wear hot pants and a tube top in the advert. She wants to give it (her sexy avatar) another (vegetarian) shot and the campaign will get people talking about her and she does need some publicity. Shahid will flaunt his chiselled six-pack-abs and it will be his sexiest look since ‘the running with the horses sequence’ in Kaminey.

Shahid is currently in the US and was unavailable for comment while Amrita Rao said that she was looking forward to the campaign which will spread the message of how sexy vegetarianism is.

'It is not easy to be a hero for 25 years'

After Partner, Govinda hopes to churn out another hit in Life Partner, directed by writer-turned-director Rumi Jaffery. The film co-starring Fardeen Khan, Genelia D'Souza, Tusshar Kapoor, Prachi Desai and Amrita Rao sees Govinda playing a divorce lawyer.

Patcy N got to talk to him about Life Partner, and his long innings in Bollywood.

What are you trying to convey in your forthcoming film Life Partner?

The film is about how you should be with your life partner, how you should take care of your life partner and work things out together. It is also about the people you meet in your life, and how you should be careful with certain types of people.

I have worked with Rumi Jaffery in Saajan Chale Sasural, Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and now Life Partner. I have given hits with him. And I plan to give a hit with Life Partner too.

You had worked with Rumi Jaffery when he was a writer. But now you are working with him as a director. How was he in his new job?

He has done a fantastic job in this film. I would say the actors were excellent as well. Even Amrita Rao, who stars opposite me in the film, is very good. I am working with her for the first time in this film. She has tremendous confidence. I have seen the film and I think she has done a great job.

I think everything is good about this film because of the script's simplicity. It says very simply: aap pyar ko rishte ka naam dena chahte hai, par jab rishte ko pyaar dena bhool jaate hai toh rishte kharab hojate hai.

The actress who has been seen in her 'simple Jane' avatar in film after film like Vivaah and Welcome To Sajjanpur, has decided to chuck her all covered look for Anil Kapoor's Shortkut, which also stars Akshay Khanna and Arshad Warsi. The actress is believed to have been in two minds about whether to take the plunge or not but Anil Kapoor is believed to have pushed her into going for it. Amrita decided to take his advice as Anil is known to be quite savvy and has been around for quite a while now. Trusting his instincts that the move would no backfire on her, Amrita decided to take the plunge. Luckily for the actress, she is naturally endowed with a slender frame and thus did not have to worry endlessly about how she would look in more contemperory clothes, which called for some skin show. One of the other perks of going glamorous was the fact that Amrita got a chance to be clothed by Manish Malhotra. The actress had earlier gone for a grunge look in Farah Khan's Main Hoon Na. She has otherwise never departed from her sweet, simple image which has been built up over the years, prompted mostly by her choice of films. But perhaps realising that she was limiting her choice of roles, the actress has decided to prove that she can handle glamour as well.

Manish Malhotra Gives Amrita Rao a Shortktut to Glamour!

Ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra owns the credit for creating many a memorable looks for Bollywood's leading ladies over the years. Most actresses in the industry swear by this fabric magician and implicitly trust his vision as far as defining their look is concerned. The man responsible in giving Urmila her sex kitten tag in Rangeela has in his 15 years worked with various various A list stars, which include include Kajol, Karisma Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta.

The latest star to join this bandwagon is Amrita Rao! Amrita has gone completely glam in her next outing ShortKut.

She willingly gives all the credit to her favourite designer Manish Malhotra! "Manish knew from day one how he wanted to style me. In ShortKut you will see me in bikini tops, short skirts, big diva esque hair and sultry eyes. I had a blast trying this look out! We sat over the look for an entire week discussing how we wanted to play it. I'm so happy with the result. I couldn't believe the transformation when I saw myself in the mirror!" laughs Amrita.

'I am not Shah Rukh, who charms people'

Akshaye Khanna is quite the elusive actor, who shows up only when his films are up for release. The actor puts down his behaviour to 'ultra shyness.'

He talks to Nithya Ramani about his film, Short Kut: The Con Is On, costarring Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao. He also tells us why he thinks he did not make it to the A-list category in spite of being in the film industry for a little more than a decade.

What is Short Kut about?

It is about two characters -- a struggling actor, who wants to be a star and a struggling writer, who wants to become a great director. It is how these two achieve their goals. They have been friends for long but cannot stand each other.

I play Shekar and Arshad plays Raju. He steals my script and becomes a superstar. But I continue my struggle to make my way on top. There is a romantic track between Shekar and Mansi (Amrita Rao).

He sometimes gets tempted to take shortcuts but believes that there are no shortcuts in life.

It's a fun, entertaining film, with excellent characterizations.

Amritha Rao’s ‘Short Kut’ to fame with bikini

Amrith Rao is now all set to jump on to the bikini bandwagon. Amritha Rao has been around for some time but she did not have big success. She even acted in the Telugu film Athidhi with prince Mahesh Babu as hero. The film did not do well and Amritha did not bag any new offers in Telugu after that.

Amritha’s films in Hindi also did not bring in the desired results. She is now determined to shed her conservative image and try and become a hot actress. She is sporting a bikini in her new film ‘Short Kut’. The film stars Akshay Khanna and Arshad Warsi in the lead roles. The film is produced by Anil Kapoor and directed by Neeraj Vohra.

Let us see if the bikini can help Amritha to make it big in Bollywood. Short Kut will hit the screens on July 10.

Shortkut wrapped in the Thai Ocean!

While the title track of Shortkut is creating waves, its second track, Pal Pal has been tickling everyone's funnybones thanks to Arshad Warsi's berserk dance moves.

The Pal Pal song shot in picturesque Bangkok sees the babe-licious Amrita Rao grooving on a yacht. What most people don't know is that while the song was being shot the yacht lost its direction and the entire crew along with choreographer Bosco were lost in the ocean! To add to their misery, it started raining. To contain the panic Arshad gathered everyone and started dancing on the yacht and in minutes, from a stranded ship, it turned into a film wrap party for the entire crew!

The incident is Amrita's favourite memory from the film: "The atmosphere was transformed! One moment we were all seriously shooting and the next we were dancing on board. It was a perfect finish to our schedule in Bangkok and I couldn't have asked for a better wrap experience!" she said smiling.
