Asin replaced by Shruti?

Legendary actor Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Haasan's Kollywood debut opposite reigning actor Suriya in a film to be directed by talented A.R. Murugadoss is one of the major happenings in the South Indian film industry these days! While the shooting of this yet-to-be-titled flick, being simultaneously made in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, is all set to begin this week, we hear that the makers' original choice in the female lead of the film was Asin, but they finally chose Shruti Haasan instead of Asin as reportedly Shruti Haasan has a face which is more suited for Bollywood. To be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, this untitled film will have music by Harris Jayaraj. Ravi K. Chandran will be the cameraman. More details including the title, shooting schedule, cast and crew are awaited.

I love Salman, Ajay's dynamism: Vipul Shah

'London Dreams' is Vipul Shah's first film that doesn't star Akshay Kumar. While the filmmaker missed his favourite actor, he says he thoroughly enjoyed working with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn and loved their dynamism.

"When you work with people with whom you have never worked before, there are two ways to look at things. Firstly, you do miss your favourite actor and...I have been associated with Akshay for so long. On the other hand, you have to start enjoying the process of working with the new bunch of people. Thankfully, both Salman and Ajay allowed me that comfort level," Shah told us.

Shah teamed up with Akshay in his directorial debut 'Aankhen', followed by 'Waqt - Race Against Time' and 'Namaste London'. Later when he decided to rope in Anees Bazmee as director for 'Singh Is Kinng', Akshay was once again by his side. All these films worked well at the box office.

"Akshay and me go a very long way. It is absolutely a great rapport that both of us share and it's a treat to work with him. However, I have to admit that since I was working with Salman and Ajay for the first time, I had to be on my toes all the time. That further made it an enjoyable experience for me," he said.

The director has brought Salman and Ajay together 11 years after 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'.

Talking about the two, he said: "In any case, both these actors are beyond hits and flops today. They have been there for 20 years now and seen the industry and its trends quite closely. Moreover, they enjoy worldwide popularity and are known all over."

"They have a huge reach and impact which should bring in audiences. After they get an opening, it should be the film which should do the talking. If it is good, it would work. Period."

Shah is also all praise for Asin Thottumkal, who would be seen in 'London Dreams' a year after her debut Bollywood flick 'Ghajini' opposite Aamir Khan.

"It is challenging for any actress to stand in front of terrific actors and stars like Salman and Ajay. However, the best part is that though she is a fresh face for Hindi audiences, she has worked with Kamal Haasan and other big stars down south."

"She knows how to make her presence felt amidst big stars and not to get conscious, upset or scared. It's that kind of confidence that puts her at par with the actors," the director said.

I would never do something vulgar: Asin (Film Snippets)I would never do something vulgar: Asin (Film Snippets)

New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) Southern beauty Asin, who is looking forward to her mega budget Bollywood release 'London Dreams', says she chooses her roles carefully as she doesn't want to do anything vulgar or indecent.

'I would never do something that is baseless, vulgar and indecent... something I am not comfortable doing and therefore can't do justice with,' Asin told IANS.

'When I choose a film, my criteria are script, role, director, producer and then co-artist. Language or financial issues never determine what film I want to do,' she added.

The 23-year-old made her debut in Hindi movies opposite superstar Aamir Khan in the hit film 'Ghajini' last year.

Two Khans down, two more left – Asin

Asin Thottumkal will return to the movies in Vipul Shah’s London Dreams exactly 10 months after her blockbuster Ghajini hit theatres in December 2008. She is elated with her new avatar as a ‘rock-chic’ romancing both Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn on screen. Asin is also ecstatic about her commercial with India’s hot-shot cricket captain M S Dhoni. “Let’s not call it the Dhoni influence, but I’ll describe my career so far in cricket lingo,” she says. “I started my innings with Aamir Khan and I continued my good spell with Salman. That is two Khans down, two to go (Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan).”

About her interaction with Dhoni, she says, “Mahi was friendly and fun while working.”

What she’s amused by these days is waking up to new rumours each morning. Says Asin, “I share a fabulous working relationship with Salman and Ajay. There is nothing more. But I don’t know how to react to fresh reports each day that say I’m dating Salman. Honestly, Salman and my equation has been the same from day one. We are friends and will hopefully continue to remain so.”

While she sincerely hopes that the news of her extra-special relationship with Salman dies a natural death, she also has her fingers crossed about bagging films with the uber cool Ranbir Kapoor and the light-eyed Imran Khan, who she describes as “heroes closer to my age.”
