Some of the biggest names in south Indian cinema, led by Rajnikanth, Venkatesh, Mohanlal and Mammootty, came together to celebrate Kamal Haasan's 50 years in cinema.
The stars who attented the function included Radhika, Gautami, Revathi, Rohini, Jaya Chitra, Lissy, Tabu, Urvasi, Meena, Shobhana, Sameera Reddy, Sandhya, Nisha Kothari, Mumtaz, Manorama, K Balachander, Ilaiyaraja, Prabhu, Arjun, Prasanna, Sibiraj, Jayaram, Parthiban, KS Ravikumar, Shankar, Prakashraj, Ramesh Aravind, Prabhu Deva, Allu Arjun, Ganesh Venkatram, Simbu, Jeeva, Sibiraj, Abbas, Ajmal, Narain, Karthi, Sakthi, Balu Mahendra, Santhanabharathy, Crazy Mohan, Madan, Yugi Sethu, Mysskin, Lingusamy, Cheran, Gowtham Menon, AR Murgadoss and Dharani.
Kamal had donned the grease paint for the first time for 'Kalathoor Kannamma' in 1960 at the age of six.
S. P. Balasubramaniam and Hariharan presented 'Kamal unplugged', a medley of songs from Kamal films. Kamal's daughter Shruti peformed some of the famous songs sung for Kamal heroines.
