Akshay Kumar's 'Action Replay' in title trouble!
It looks like the new -Vipul Shah-Akshay Kumar film that would also have Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead won't be able to get its chosen title 'Action Replay' that easily, as it is the property of his arch-rival.
Remember the war of words, and worse, when director Shah and producer Gaurang Doshi parted ways after 'Aankhen'? The two swore (and cursed) and promised the world they'd never work with each other - and kept their word.
Akshay Kumar had also parted bitterly with Doshi and went on to form a hugely fruitful alliance with Shah.
Since the film is based on the play of that name, Shah wants to call his film by the title 'Action Replay' and nothing else. However it seems unlikely that he'll get the title since it's now Doshi's property.
"And Doshi," said a bemused former associate of the producer-director duo, "would prefer to sell the title to the devil than to Shah. There's no way Shah would get that title out of Doshi".
Shah has little choice but to opt for another title.
Shah said: "The title suits my film perfectly. But I haven't really thought of how to get it. I'm busy with the last schedule of 'London Dreams'. I'll sit down to figure this problem only after I finish 'London Dreams'."
Interestingly, Shah had wanted to name his debut film 'All The Best', the title of the play that the film was based on. However he was unable to get the title and opted for 'Aankhen'.
Even more interestingly, producer Ajay Devgan and director Rohit Shetty want to name their new Dutt-Devgan comedy 'All The Best'. Apparently they've secured the title after much pursuit and persuasion of the producer who had obtained the title.
