Is Shah Rukh Khan a falling star???
Shah Rukh might be the ‘badshah’ but he cannot afford to be the ‘bad’ shah! The dimpled smile that rocked a nation, it appears, has lost its sheen.
A fallen star is a pitiful sight, and it takes months of PR spin to restore the painstakingly built ‘star charisma.’
But does Shah Rukh Khan care?
To acknowledge that he needs corrective PR will be to admit that he had erred.
That will be one mighty blow to the super-ego of the actor, who, of course, can disarm the press and endear himself to detractors with effortless ease…
Only, now, nothing seems to work.
He is hated, to put it mildly, especially by cricket-crazy fans in West Bengal, and he is the butt of jokes by almost all cricket lovers in India, which, by any modest estimate, will run to millions of people.
The dimpled smile that rocked a nation, it appears, has lost its sheen.
People who were once die-hard fans seem to see through his smile, and witness the unfolding of a vulnerable man, who has all the vices that we readily attribute to our neighbours.
There is much revelry taken in abusing Shah Rukh Khan; there is so much glee in taking direct and indirect potshots at the actor, especially by the blogger community.
This is not all because of his mis-adventures with the Knight Riders.
There has been so much of accumulated malice that the South African adventure simply served as the tipping point.
Shah Rukh Khan, for all practical purposes, is a man who is easy to hate. He is with Aishwarya Rai in the ‘love to hate’ league.
