Jai Ho! A. R. Rahman to perform for flood victms


Hyderabad is getting set to witness India's pride, A R Rahman Live in Concert for the first time in the city since his spectacular win at the Academy Awards.

The net proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for providing assistance to flood victims.

Jai Ho is a one of a kind concert, which will feature several artistes apart from the "Mozart of Madras" performing to a capacity crowd of 50,000.

Addressing the press conference, AR Rahman said, "Hyderabad is very special for me and I am quite excited to be performing here. I and my team are honored that the Jai Ho Concert will be the first, inaugural event to be held in the newly created GMR Arena. We hope that this will mark a new beginning of many more such events that will entertain the people of Hyderabad."

Adding a unique flavor will be an ensemble of talented playback singers and renowned musicians performing along with A R Rahman including Sivamani, Chitra, Blaaze, Benny Dayal, Sadhana Sargam, Rashid Ali, Shweta Pandit and Neeti Mohan among others.

Mr. Sripathy also announced that Rahman will present a special dedication at the Concert, in memory of the late Dr. Y. S. Rajsekhara Reddy.
