Aish fights for her rights… to wear make up!
Make up is the most important thing for an actress, especially if they want to hide any marks, scars or signs of ageing. So then when an actress is denied the right to wear makeup for her scenes she can get quite annoyed, especially if you have the rep of say… Aishwarya! Check it out – Mani Ratnam has the reputation of being the biggest taskmaster in the industry and when he wants something his way, he gets it no matter it your Aishwarya Rai or Obama.

Mani had penned the script for Aish in the latter part of the movie as a very painful and hurt character. Abhishek abducts her in the second half and she has to undergo a major transformation in her life. So for this scene Mani wanted Aish to have absolutely no make up on because he believed that the character should express all the loss & pain she’s going through.

Ash however managed to sneak on some basic make-up and land up on the set, but Mani is no fool. He noticed some silver make up on Aish face and immediately asked her to remove it. Poor Aish had to comply.
