Superstar Amitabh Bachchan Tuesday released the 20th edition of Limca Book of Records and was felicitated for being among 20 luminaries who have made India proud.
Amitabh, who had daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai in attendance at the event, said he was deeply touched by the acknowledgement of his work.
'I'm deeply honoured to be on this stage with some great people. I feel very humbled. I've always believed that it's the people of our country who have given me inspiration, have always stood by me, given me love and respect and provoked me to do better. I want to thank everyone for the acknowledgement of my work,' he said.
Personalities, including Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief G. Madhavan Nair, senior photographer Raghu Rai and senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, among others, were also felicitated for being among the 20 People of the Year.
Said Nair: 'It is an extremely exciting moment for me to share the stage with such great personalities. Many mothers must have told their naughty kids that they will get the moon for them. I could not get the moon here but managed to take Indians to the moon.'
'I owe this award to my ISRO family,' he added.
The Hindi and Malayalam versions of the book were also unveiled on the occasion.
Others in the list of people of the Year include actor Naseeruddin Shah, singer Lata Mangeshkar, shooter Abhinav Bindra, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and footballer Baichung Bhutia besides others.
